GRP Structural Stair Treads and Landings
Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads
Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads are produced using the fibreglass pultrusion system which provides an incredible high strength to weight ratio. The system features a built-in riser for rapid installation and an in-built fall to assist with drainage and reduce pooling on stair surfaces. The Riser detail can be removed if necessary.
Dura Slab Treads are formed by combining resin and glass fibres to produce ‘thermoset’ products which are renowned for their strength and durability. Where previous composite treads on the market have been limited in span capabilities, Dura Composites has the ability to span up to 2.1m clear open span, achieving the required 5kN/m2 at L/300 deflection which means that additional supports can be avoided in most scenarios. The design has built-in risers, speeding up the install process, and a slight fall to assist in the prevention of water pooling which can lead to problems with ice in winter.
Key Features of the GRP Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads
The Dura Composites stair treads and landings can be easily fixed into position thanks to their single unit construction. On-going maintenance of the Dura Slab stair tread system is not required as GRP will not rot, corrode or even lose colour throughout is design life, and is ideally suited to factories where chemicals are used thanks to its chemical resistance, and also to environments such as electrical substations as Dura Composites GRP is non-conductive.
Available in 65mm or 90mm thicknesses the Dura Slab stair tread system is designed to map to the two most customary timber stair component sizes in common usage, which are 75mm and 100mm. The Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads therefore allow for a 10mm adjustment in each case, meaning easy replacement of degraded timber.
Available in a range of colours and finishes, our structural treads will help you achieve DDA compliance (available as dark grey treads with yellow or white nosing). The high visibility nosing highlights the leading edge of the step, and the low profile characteristics of the Dura Tread Cover allows it to be fitted to new or existing metal, concrete, or timber steps whilst only increasing the overall step height by 5mm.
To ensure safety and ease of access for people with limited vision, Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads have DDA and Equality Act compliant contrasting coloured nosings, and provide a slip resistant surface, particularly when wet.
Non-conductive / low maintenance
The Structural Stair Treads span up to 2.1 metres are corrosion and weather resistant, non-conductive and require minimal maintenance, making them ideally suited to electrified rail environments and for use on passenger footbridges. Available in 65mm or 90mm stair treads accommodating for up to 320mm goings on the treads. Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads are the ideal choice for complete refurbishment or individual tread replacement projects.
Dura Slab Stair Treads is a ground breaking pultruded fibreglass rapid installation system, ideal for use in all areas of industry. It is designed as a modular system allowing the contractor huge flexibility both at the design stage and also on-site and features an anti-slip solid surface to cater for all types of footwear.
