Our GRP embankment steps are fabricated from our d² GRP grating and profile sections to provide safe pedestrian access up and down railway embankments and steep slopes. We can supply fully fabricated or in kit format for simple installation on site for Network Rail Infrastructure Access Points and our designs include intermediate stair landings, self-closing gates and handrailing.
Safe and strong, but lighter and lower carbon.
However complex your embankment stairway project, our extensive experience in design and fabrication will ensure your resulting structure is safe and durable. As experts in GRP, we have supplied a wide range of GRP embankment stairway structures which replace wood and steel alternatives to provide safe maintenance access.
Designed as a modular system, our structures can be installed rapidly and allow for huge flexibility both at the design stage and also on-site. The supporting framework is made from our structural beams (d² Dura Profile) which have up to 50% less embodied carbon versus competitor products, making them a sustainable choice for environmentally conscious projects.
They’re also incredibly strong. On average, d² Dura Profiles exceed the E23 Grade standard by an impressive 50%, meaning that you can select profiles that are either twice as strong or a third smaller when compared to GRP competitors, adding efficiency and cost savings to your embankment staircase project. As well as being strong, our profile components are also really lightweight, allowing for easy delivery to remote locations and rapid installation at a wide variety of slope angles.
The step sections are made from our gritted GRP walking surface (d² Dura Grating) which caters for all types of footwear, offers excellent anti-slip qualities and features a flush fitting high visibility strip on each stair nosing for maximum safety. All structures are finished with safety handrailing and can include additional landings to accommodate direction changes as well as self-closing gates and lockable gates.
