Contracts Installation Supervisor
We are looking for an experienced Contracts Installation Supervisor to lead and support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of Dura Composites installation projects across a range of sectors.
The role combines hands-on installation work with team leadership and site supervision. You will oversee installation teams and ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, and in line with approved drawings, specifications, RAMS and company quality standards.
You will be responsible for installing and supervising a range of structural GRP systems, including riser flooring, walkways, platforms, staircases, handrailing, decking, access structures and bespoke fabricated solutions.
The successful candidate will be a practical, safety-conscious and confident site leader who can communicate effectively, work from technical drawings, manage a team and maintain high installation standards while being willing to get involved hands-on.
Key Duties
- Supervise the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of Dura Composites installation projects in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets, programme requirements and company procedures.
- Lead installation teams on site, providing clear direction and supervision while remaining actively involved in installation activities where required.
- Coordinate daily labour, plant, tools, materials, access requirements and subcontractor activities to support the planned sequence of works.
- Monitor progress against the agreed programme and promptly report progress, delays, risks, resource requirements and potential changes to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
- Take responsibility for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality performance within the area of work under their control.
- Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks, Task Briefing Sheets and other site communications, ensuring the workforce understands the planned activities, hazards, controls and individual responsibilities.
- Carry out point-of-work and dynamic risk assessments where site conditions or activities change.
- Stop work where unsafe conditions, practices or behaviors are identified and ensure concerns are addressed or escalated before work recommences.
- Promote the reporting of hazards, close calls, near misses, incidents, defects and opportunities for improvement in accordance with company and client procedures.
- Ensure all operatives and subcontractors use the required PPE and comply with site rules, permits, access restrictions and approved safe systems of work.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications and installation details, ensuring the installation team clearly understands the required scope and standard of work.
- Identify technical, design, access or installation issues at the earliest opportunity and escalate them to the appropriate project team member.
- Support the production, review and amendment of RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets and other project documentation by providing accurate site-specific information.
- Attend site coordination, progress and client meetings where required, providing clear and accurate updates on installation activities.
- Act as a professional representative of Dura Composites, maintaining constructive working relationships with clients, principal contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate deliveries, offloading arrangements, material movements and storage requirements in line with the approved project arrangements.
- Ensure Dura Composites’ materials are checked on arrival, stored safely, protected from damage and made available in accordance with the installation programme.
- Manage the site inventory of tools, plant and equipment and ensure items are maintained, inspected and used correctly.
- Ensure work equipment and access equipment are suitable for use and compliant with applicable PUWER requirements, inspections and company procedures.
- Report damaged, defective or missing materials, tools, plant and equipment promptly.
- Carry out and record quality inspections throughout the installation process, promoting a right-first-time approach.
- Ensure completed works comply with the approved drawings, specifications, tolerances and Dura Composites’ quality requirements.
- Identify, record and manage defects and snagging items, ensuring corrective work is completed and verified before handover.
- Support the completion of project quality records, inspection documentation, photographs, handover information and other required evidence.
- Complete accurate and timely daily reports, progress records, site diaries, inspections, photographs and other project documentation.
- Use tablets, Microsoft Teams, Fieldview or similar real-time site-reporting software and SharePoint where applicable.
- Promote environmentally responsible working practices, including waste reduction, waste segregation, pollution prevention and efficient use of materials.
- Support compliance with project environmental requirements and report environmental concerns or incidents promptly.
- Maintain awareness of temporary works associated with the project and ensure temporary works are not installed, altered, loaded or removed without the appropriate approval and instruction.
- Mentor installers, apprentices and less experienced members of the team, providing practical guidance, feedback and support.
- Identify training, competency or performance concerns and raise them with the relevant manager.
- Promote a positive, professional and inclusive site culture through visible leadership, effective communication and consistent standards.
- Lead by example by complying with all company, client and statutory Safety, Health, Environment and Quality requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks where competent and authorised to do so, and report equipment malfunctions or defects promptly.

- ISO 9001: Quality Management System to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve customer satisfaction.
- ISO 14001: Environmental Management System to improve environmental performance through efficient resource use and waste reduction.
- ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System to manage risks and improve OH&S performance, preventing work-related injuries and illnesses.
Details about Bespoke Structures:
- Dura Composites installation projects may include riser flooring, structural profiles, walkway grating, platforms, staircases, handrailing, decking systems, access structures and other bespoke fabricated GRP solutions.
- Our structural GRP systems are designed to provide durable, lightweight, low-maintenance and cost-effective alternatives to traditional materials.
- Installations may involve standard products, prefabricated assemblies or bespoke solutions manufactured to project-specific drawings and requirements.
- Working Supervisors are responsible for ensuring products are handled, stored and installed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, installation guidance and quality requirements.
- They must ensure that any damage, discrepancies, missing components or conflicts between the site conditions and the approved design are identified and reported before the affected work proceeds.
Person Specification
Essential
- Demonstrable experience supervising construction or installation activities within live site environments.
- Proven ability to lead, coordinate and motivate installation teams while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
- Strong understanding of construction site Safety, Health, Environment and Quality requirements.
- Experience delivering toolbox talks, daily briefings and task-specific instructions.
- Experience working with RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets, permits and site inspection records.
- Ability to carry out point-of-work and dynamic risk assessments and confidently stop work where unsafe conditions arise.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and installation details.
- Ability to identify and clearly communicate technical, quality, programme and installation issues.
- Experience coordinating labor, plant, tools, materials, deliveries and site logistics.
- Good understanding of quality inspections, snagging, defect management and project handover requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with clients, principal contractors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Good judgement, organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple site activities within programme constraints.
- Competence in completing accurate digital site records using tablets, Microsoft Teams, Fieldview or similar site-reporting software, Autodesk and SharePoint where applicable.
- Strong awareness of environmental responsibilities, including waste management and pollution prevention.
- Willingness to travel to different project locations and stay away from home where required. We will endeavor to provide at least one week’s notice where possible; where this is not possible, as much notice as reasonably practicable will be given.
- Willingness and ability to comply with project-specific PPE requirements, including being clean-shaven where required to achieve an effective seal when using respiratory protective equipment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- SSSTS or equivalent site-supervision qualification.
- Working at Height and Harness and Lanyard training.
- PASMA and IPAF qualifications, where required by the activities being supervised.
