As one of the world leaders in creating composite products and solutions, Dura Composites has invested in a like-minded business, Mekina Industries, specialising in permanent formwork solutions for bridge and civil structures. This collaboration will empower Mekina Industries in its aim to lead the way in GRP construction products such as permanent formwork, copers, and custom mouldings.
Mekina Industries, were formed in 2023 by two industry experts in GRP permanent formworks who together have over 50 years’ experience in the technical design and manufacture of GRP products. As individuals, they have worked on over 4,000 projects worldwide with a track record of delivering excellence. Predominantly used as a sacrificial ‘leave-in-place’ formwork for bridges, Mekina Industries’ range of Mek-Dek panels are strong, lightweight and manufactured to suit specific requirements to allow installations to take place offline and offsite in numerous scenarios. GRP Mek-Dek panels can also reduce labour, restrict safety risks, speed up builds whilst providing a safe working platform. All installation of permanent formwork panels takes place whilst working above the structure, negating any need for access beneath.
This joint venture allows Mekina to benefit from the knowledge, expertise and experience gathered by Dura Composites, with over 27 years of supplying structural walkways to infrastructure markets. Effective immediately, Dura owns 50% of Mekina Industries, however both remain separate businesses that will operate independently.
