    Truck Fleet, West Midlands, UK

    GRP Truck Bed Flooring

    Project Overview

Bevan Group, a leading UK manufacturer of commercial vehicle bodies, replaced heavy steel grating in their fleet with Dura Composites’ GRP d² Mini Mesh Grating. This choice provided cost-effective, anti-slip and low-maintenance benefits whilst meeting industry standards.

Able to meet the challenging demands of the transport and logistics sector.

Operating out of five sites across the West Midlands, Staffordshire & St. Helens, Bevan Group is a leading British manufacturer of commercial vehicle bodies which employs more than 200 staff. Bevan Group manufactures more than 60 truck and van bodies each week for some of the biggest names on UK roads and designs and builds vehicles to meet operators’ precise requirements. In this project, Bevan Group turned to Dura Composites to provide durable anti-slip grating made from Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) for some of the commercial vehicle fleet for a Nationwide plant/tool hire business.

This business required a robust, durable and safe flooring solution. d² Dura Grating Mini Mesh in 22mm thickness offered the ideal balance of impact resistance, anti-slip and low maintenance whilst also being as cost-effective alternative to the heavyweight steel grating the company had previously been using, which had become expensive and difficult to source. The unique d² Dura Grating design features Dura Composites most advanced anti-slip surface (tested in accordance with BS 7976-2:2002+A1:2013) and is able to meet the challenging demands of the transport and logistics sector. With an unrivalled performance-to-weight ratio, it is easy to manually handle and install using standard hand tools and can be supplied in a variety of mesh sizes and colours to create safe working environments.

The skilled commercial vehicle body builders within our workshop are adept at working with a range of materials, but were extremely impressed with the d² Dura Grating. In this project it was an easy decision to switch from the cumbersome and costly steel to Dura Composites’ lightweight but high-performance GRP, and the mesh size and dark grey colour also contributed to a professional looking finish. As a result of the success of the first batch of vehicles, Bevan Group and Dura Composites are now collaborating to deliver heavy duty GRP flooring for another 20 trucks in the fleet.
