Dura Composites Win Employer of the Year 2018 at the recent Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards
10th October 2018 – Dura Composites, a leading supplier of composite products for flooring, structures and facades has been awarded Employer of the Year 2018 at the recent Tendring Blue Ribbon Awards. This local council initiative celebrates excellence in the business community, presenting a total of 15 awards ranging from individual and team achievement, to growth, technology and innovation.
The Employer of the Year Award recognises the positive working environments and ongoing commitment to the welfare of employees in the workplace.
This award celebrates a culmination of staff related initiatives at Dura Composites since early 2017, the first being the implementation of the Culture and People Development department.
By identifying the corporate values that would shape long term success and deliver happy employees, the company now has greater employee productivity, and higher employee retention.
A Culture Steering Group was formed to give employees a voice and embed a strong culture through the company’s PRIDE values. Individuals from across the company meet once a month for continuous improvement and implementation of positive culture activities. A highlight in the company calendar is the annual company day. An opportunity for everyone to come together and breakdown barriers to improve working relationships through team building experiences.
Achievements are celebrated at quarterly company meetings through Staff Excellence, Service Anniversary and Attendance Awards.
With a clear focus on culture Dura continues to gain external recognition including a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2017, a Bronze ROSPA Health and Safety Achievement Award, with several employees having personally achieved diplomas from the Chartered Management Institute.
To attract staff for the future, Dura are creating connections between the young people of Tendring and the world of work through the Working Pride Foundation. A charitable organisation established to create workplace opportunities for young people to help them make the first step of their career during their last years of education.
Commenting on winning the Employer of the Year Award, Dura Composites’ Managing Director Stuart Burns said: “This award recognises our talented and committed workforce and comes at a really exciting time as we look to the future and the continued growth of our company. Everyone at Dura Composites is immensely proud and honoured to receive this award, which we are sure will be a springboard for further success both in the UK and Overseas.”
