    Made In Britain

d² designed, British-made, low-carbon, patented system.

d² Quickspan® is the lowest carbon non-combustible A2 fire-rated aluminium decking system for balconies, terraces, and walkways tested to BS EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0.

Its centre-fix design uses a hidden fixing channel to fasten planks directly to the substructure, creating a clean surface that minimises trip and slip risks. Because fixings are secured in the central channel there are no fiddly clips, which saves handling time and labour. Final planks can be fitted after the balcony is craned into place, making the system ideal for prefabrication and rapid installation.

    • The dual-skin profile delivers exceptional span strength of up to 1300 mm (18mm) and 1900mm (27mm). This means fewer supports, faster installation, and lower substrate costs, all while using significantly less material to reduce weight, cost, and embodied carbon.
    • Full system flexibility, the plank can also operate in Free-Drain or Positive-Drain mode (The additional drainage gutter is added in between each plank, water is captured and diverted to the outlets at the plank ends).
    • Backed by a 30-year warranty, 60-year structural life expectancy.
    • Fully compliant with Approved Document B, tested to BS EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0 meeting fire safety requirements for external balconies above 11m, and supporting Gateway 2 & 3 approvals with full evidence pack: fire tests, span/load data, slip resistance, Environmental Product Declaration — ready for submission.
    • The sustainable choice — verified by our EPD’s as the lowest carbon balcony decking in the world based on publicly available comparative data, d² Quickspan is built for long-term, low-carbon performance.
    • Made from 68% recycled aluminium, manufactured in the UK, and uses 24% less material than comparable systems; reducing weight and embodied carbon for your project.
    • 100% recyclable at end of life, supporting circular construction and meeting ESG and net-zero goals with full carbon transparency.

The Lowest-Carbon Balcony Decking in the World

The Lowest-Carbon Balcony Decking in the World

d² Quickspan is verified by our Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) as the lowest carbon balcony decking in the industry, based on publicly available comparative data.

Manufactured in the UK from 68% recycled aluminium, Quickspan significantly lowers embodied carbon by reducing the demand for virgin materials and minimising transport emissions.

At the end of its service life, the aluminium decking, bearers and pedestals are 100% recyclable, ensuring that every component can be repurposed rather than sent to landfill, supporting circular construction principles and long-term sustainability goals.

    Dual-Skin Efficiency

    Dual-Skin Efficiency

Unlike single-skin planks, d² Quickspan’s dual-skin construction uses 24% less material than comparable systems, achieving strength with minimal material usage. This optimised design improves structural efficiency, lowers carbon impact, and maintains long-term performance without excess weight.

    Integrated Drainage Channel

    Integrated Drainage Channel

d² Quickspan’s profile features an internal drainage insert. In Positive-Drain mode, it captures surface water and diverts it to outlets at the plank ends, achieving controlled water management without separate drainage trays. In Free-Drain mode, water passes naturally between boards. Switching between modes requires no plank replacement.

    Slip Resistance & Coating

    Slip Resistance & Coating

Tested to UK standards, d² Quickspan achieves low slip potential in both wet and dry conditions. Its Qualicoat powder-coating meets the full spectrum of fire and slip resistance tests, ensuring the system remains compliant, safe, and durable.

    Durability & Assurance

    Durability & Assurance

Backed by a 30-year warranty and designed with a 60-year structural life expectancy, d² Quickspan offers long-term value, reduced maintenance cycles, and lasting peace of mind.

    FAQs

d² Quickspan is a non-combustible aluminium decking system tested to BS EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0. Its centre-fix design creates a clean surface, and the dual-skin profile delivers superior span strength while reducing material use and embodied carbon.

Verified by its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), d² Quickspan has the lowest carbon footprint of any balcony decking in the industry. Manufactured in the UK from 68% recycled aluminium, it uses up to 24% less material than comparable systems and is 100% recyclable at end of life.

The d² Quickspan decking includes an integrated drainage gutter for Positive-Drain functionality. When the gutter insert is removed, the system switches to Free-Drain mode.

It achieves low slip potential in wet and dry conditions and is finished with Qualicoat powder-coating for long term durability.

The 18mm board spans up to 800 mm and the 27mm board up to 1300 mm between supports, verified at 2 kN point load and 5 kN UDL.

L/200 deflection is used, aligned with recognised Eurocode practice and typical balcony performance expectations.

Via a centre fixing channel. The channel is hidden for a clean surface.

Not always. NHBC Standards require that water is directed away from the building fabric and does not accumulate on balconies. However, your project may comprise smaller or open balconies where water can safely pass between planks directly to open air, or where the balcony surface is above landscaping or a drainage layer that can safely receive rainfall. d² Quickspan supports Free-Drain or Positive-Drain. Always be sure to use Positive-Drain where regulations or design requires controlled water evacuation.

A gutter insert captures water and diverts it to outlets at the plank ends, enabling Positive-Drain without the need for separate components that add cost to your project.

Yes. It is tested to BS EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0 and A2fl-s1 by UKAS-accredited laboratories. Full test data is available on request.

Low slip potential in wet and dry conditions to UK test methods. Specific PTV values can be provided on request.

The Quickspan aluminium decking planks carry a 30-year warranty and a 60-year structural life expectancy.

Yes. The centre fixing method enables the final planks to be easily installed once the balcony is craned and fixed into position, making it ideal for prefabrication and rapid install.

We use 6063-T6 for strength, stiffness and corrosion resistance appropriate to balcony applications.

No. Unlike single skin competitor products, the Quickspan profile includes an integrated soffit for a clean underside without additional trims.

Yes. It is 100% recyclable and manufactured in the UK with high recycled content to support circular construction goals.
