Install Instructions

Our composite decking tiles are the perfect DIY product, providing an instant transformation without the need for bearers or costly substructures. They can be installed on virtually any hardstanding or flat area where the ground is level. Dura Deck Tile Resist has a unique patent-pending base design which mitigates the risk of damage or piercing to any underlying weed membranes you might choose to add.

Step 1

Work out how many tiles you’ll need

To work out how many deck tiles and or ramps you’ll need for your project, first calculate the square meterage (m²) (or square footage) of the area (length multiplied by width) and divide by the tile coverage. A good rule of thumb is to order 10% more tiles than your measurements say you need, to allow for any wastage.

Dura Deck Tiles won’t interlock when laid on uneven surfaces, so you must be sure to fix any issues before starting. Make sure your area has been treated with weedkiller beforehand, and if your area is prone to weeds, you may choose to also add a layer of good-quality weed control fabric prior to installation.

Step 2

Laying your Dura Deck Tiles

If you’re installing on top of concrete, sweep the area clean first. If there are small cracks of less than 10mm, tiles can be laid straight on top as long as the sides of the crack are even. If they’re uneven, you’ll need to repair them first with some patching filler or compound.

To lay the first Dura Deck Tile, start from a corner and work outward. The tile bases click together easily without the need for undue pressure. Keep connecting the tiles together until you have covered the entire area, and the surface is flush and level. If you need to, you can use a jigsaw or mitre saw to cut the last few tiles to your required dimensions and guarantee a perfect fit. If you prefer a decorative finish, you may wish to add a layer of stones or aggregate to finish your decking area.

Step 3

Cut the Dura Deck Tiles

If you have good DIY skills, you can also use a jigsaw to cut the deck tiles to fit around an obstruction.

Mark out the area to size on a piece of cardboard to use as a template, and make sure to avoid any screws on your cut line from the base of the tile.

Cut your Dura Deck Tile according to your template, and use sandpaper to smooth the rough edges. You can now lay the tile as you would normally.

Step 4

Add Outside Ramps (Optional)

Once you’ve finished installing your tiles, you can finish the outer edge where your interlocking tabs will be visible. You can use pebbles or gravel to create a transition area between the deck and the house or lawn for example, or for a more professional finish you can opt to add Dura Deck Tile Corner and/or Edge Ramps to finish the area.

To install the ramps, you should begin by lifting the adjacent Dura Deck Tile up, and pushing the tile back down into the Corner Ramp to lock into place.

Step 5

Complete your decking area with the Edge Ramps, filling in the space between each Corner Ramp by lifting the adjacent Dura Tile upward and pushing this tile back down into the interlocking tabs of the Edge Ramp.

Step 6

Brush down the area to remove any debris. With Dura Deck Tiles, there’s no need to wait before adding your furniture, plants or accessories onto your deck – so you can enjoy your new space as soon as you’ve finished the installation!

Dura Deck Tile Resist Profiles

The combination of the beautiful traditional appearance of wood and durability of composite timber makes Dura Deck Tile Resist ideal for both new installations or for tiling over unsightly or unwanted outdoor areas. The advanced material composition meets modern standards set by architects, designers and specifiers. All you need is an existing firm, flat, hardstanding surface to install our composite decking tiles.

Dura Deck Tile Resist is produced via a co-extrusion process where a 360° outer armour is used to protect the core of the tile boards from the elements.

The interlocking base means the tiles are easy to lay and large areas can be installed quickly as no bearers or fixings are required. Corner and Edge Ramps interlock with the tile to create an outer row providing a smooth, safe, angled transition between the tile and hard surface.
