Site Installation Technician

In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the successful installation of GRP riser flooring while adhering to our rigorous internal processes and external standards.

As a valued member of the team, you will work closely with our dedicated Dura Site Manager, follow the agreed method and specification for each project. You’ll need to pay strong attention to detail and be able to demonstrate a commitment to quality, that delivers outstanding results. Additionally, we’ll expect you to take ownership of monitoring the condition and inventory of materials, tools, and health and safety equipment. Promptly reporting any resupply needs to the project lead, that will help us maintain seamless productivity throughout the installation process.

Job Purpose: As an Installation Technician, your primary role involves assisting with the safe and efficient installation of GRP riser flooring, bespoke structures, and GRP pit covers for utilities sites. You will support and collaborate with the installation team, ensuring adherence to project specifications and internal processes. This role is crucial in facilitating overall project execution by ensuring that all activities are performed efficiently and safely.


Key Duties

  • Read and accurately interpret programs, drawings, and technical specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Accurately set out risers and ensure precise positioning.
  • Cut and prefabricate materials according to specifications and project needs.
  • Fit components in accordance with contractor and company specifications, ensuring precise installation.
  • Assist in the installation of products under the guidance of a Site Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Install our bespoke structures and cut products as per project requirements.
  • Install GRP pit covers for utilities sites, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and development to progress towards Level 2 NVQ.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Support the management of materials and resources on-site.
  • Maintain quality control procedures throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Proactively identify and address problems during the project, finding effective solutions to maintain progress.
  • Report any defects in accordance with the ISO 9001 continuous improvement system.
  • Utilise the correct tools and equipment necessary to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Wear and utilise personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements, including safe operating procedures (SSOW), equipment inspections (PUWER & LOLER regulations), and incident reporting.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.

Additionally, ensure compliance with the following ISO standards:

  • ISO 9001: Quality Management System to meet customer and regulatory requirements and improve customer satisfaction.
  • ISO 14001: Environmental Management System to improve environmental performance through efficient resource use and waste reduction.
  • ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System to manage risks and improve OH&S performance, preventing work-related injuries and illnesses.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Proven experience as a Construction Fitter or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Full UK Driving license is favourable.
  • Ability to read and interpret programs, drawings, and technical specifications accurately.
  • Proficient in setting out risers and working with various construction materials.
  • Excellent fitting skills and the ability to follow contractor and company specifications precisely.
  • Commitment to safety, health, and environmental practices.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to find practical solutions in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality control procedures is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Willingness to commute to different sites and stay away if necessary.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as CSCS card, PASMA, IPAF, and Harness & Lanyard accreditations.
  • Work track side with PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.

Basic Salary

£26,000 – £31,500 per annum (depending on experience)

NPGSBS

Potential to earn 10% of Basic salary, following one year’s service as part of the companywide Net Profit Gain Share Bonus System (NPGSBS)

Total Package

£28,600 – £34,650 per annum (depending on experience)

Holidays

20 days per year plus 8 bank holidays
(Option to purchase 5 additional days per year)
