Maintenance & Wash Bays
Dura Composites GRP Solutions Provide a Safe Environment Across All Access Areas
Durable GRP Solutions for the Maintenance of Trackside Areas
If you’re a train operating company, infrastructure controller, member of Network Rail or its associated contractors who is involved in railway cleaning & maintenance services, then GRP solutions from Dura Composites may be ideal for your needs.
To ensure that your depot is operating at optimal efficiency and maximise the number of trains maintained simultaneously, choosing the right access structures, flooring and trench covers is key.
GRP Dura Grating offers the highest slip resistance ever measured for a walking surface especially in wet, oily and frosty conditions. Angular Quartz is integrally bonded to the GRP Grating, which produces an extremely long-lasting, hard-wearing surface – and the open mesh nature of the grating still allows full drainage of wastewater from the cleaning process. Dura Grating is available in a range of colours and thicknesses, and also in a range of open mesh aperture sizes such as 42mm x 42mm, 32mm x 32mm, 12mm x 12mm and 8mm x 8mm (sometimes known as Standard Mesh Grating, Mini Mesh Grating and Micro Mesh Grating). All of the above can be produced to BS476 part 7 Class 1 or Class 2 fire rating for durability and peace of mind.
As well as being an ideal and cost-effective alternative to traditional grating materials such as wood, mild steel and stainless steel, Dura Composites GRP grating also offers superb resistance in environments such as wash bays where chemicals and other corrosives would otherwise attack.
Dura Slab is a precision engineered fibreglass floor cover system manufactured using a unique construction technique that provides an incredible strength to weight ratio. A one piece high strength fibreglass profile is pultruded in one mass to produce a consistent quality flooring or trench cover structure that is stiff, strong, lightweight and non-corrosive, and that has an anti-slip walking surface. Dura Slab is ideal for new trackside or maintenance area constructions but is also well suited for railway refurbishment applications to replace old, heavy & cumbersome traditional flooring materials. The characteristics of Dura Slab make it more favourable than using steel, timber or concrete systems due to its lower weight, anti-slip surface, ease of installation and ultra low maintenance.
Dura Profile Access Structures
Our Glass Reinforced Polymer Structures can be Delivered Fully Fabricated or in Kit Form
GRP Dura Grating Allows Easy Construction of Access Structures
If you’re looking for access structures for your maintenance areas and washbays, then Dura Composites can cater for roof mounted equipment on newer rolling stock.
Dura Composites’ fibreglass fabrications are manufactured using high quality, fibreglass produced from a cutting edge pultrusion process, which offers high strength, low weight, chemical and fire resistant properties. Our GRP/FRP access structures are weight for weight stronger than steel and are easier to transport and install due to the relatively low weight factor, saving time, manpower and money on expensive items such as cranes and specialised lifting equipment. Made from our market-leading Dura Profile, our access structures can be fabricated in-house and delivered to the site in complete form, or in manageable component sections for final assembly on location.
Our range of fibreglass fabrications include stairways, access platforms, walkways and step-over platforms, which can all be fitted with Dura Grating mesh flooring or Dura Slab solid structural flooring.
Panel Thickness and Mesh Size Information
Dura Grating is available in Standard Mesh, Mini Mesh and Micro Mesh versions for maximum versatility. Dura Grating is a market leading fibreglass grating solution which is designed to withstand the harshest of industrial and commercial environments. GRP Dura Grating requires little or no maintenance and its lightweight nature makes it easier to handle and install than metal gratings. Dura Composites offers a bespoke cut to size service prior to delivery for quick and easy install or if you prefer, our GRP grating can be cut on site using standard power tools with a diamond tipped blade. Dura Grating has one of the highest degrees of slip-resistances ever measured for a walking surface especially in wet, oily and icy conditions and is a suitable surface for rail walkways, crossings, stair tread projects, refuge platforms, access structures and much more.
British Standard Slip Resistance test results for structures fitted with fibreglass grating walkway stair tread surfaces
The B.S. 4592 test was devised to test and assess the slip resistance of industrial type flooring, intended for use in water and wet areas. A co-efficient of friction (CoF) is calculated by determining the mean angle of inclination that an operator can safely maintain when the flooring is subjected to a continuous stream of water.
Dura Composites offers you a very high quality and versatile product range and our products are regularly tested – passing recognised international and national standards.
Angular Quartz is integrally bonded to the top surface of our FRP gratings, which produces an extremely hard-wearing surface that greatly enhances the anti-slip properties & durability of the grating product.
Standard colours are grey and yellow other RAL colours available on request for volume orders.
