We’ve supplied a range of work platforms, ladders, handrailing and walkways to nuclear projects such as First Light Fusion, who have benefitted from our d² products’ equivalent performance to steel for considerably less weight, as well as from its non-conductivity.
Unlike competitor products, we’re able to demonstrate a major reduction in the embodied carbon of our GRP products thanks to their intelligent design, and can even calculate the specific carbon saving you’ll make from choosing us for your specific project as part of the quotation process.
As well as all of the benefits above, our GRP materials typically have low levels of natural radioactivity, making them suitable for use in environments where radiation monitoring and control are critical.
Despite being lightweight, GRP exhibits a high strength-to-weight ratio, providing structural strength without excessive weight. This is important for components that need to withstand various loads and stresses and also makes products such as our structural beam sections easier and cheaper to transport than metallic equivalents.
GRP also has good thermal insulation properties, which can be beneficial in nuclear applications where temperature control is essential. With a 60 year design life, our d² GRP is also known for its durability, ensuring a long low-maintenance service.
