What makes our Risers for High Rise Buildings > Safer, Stronger, Faster & Proven?

  • We’re the safest solution out there. Unlike competitor GRP framework solutions, there’s no risk that our supports can be accidentally cut during the fitting of services, causing the riser to fail.
  • d2 Dura Grating is the only 50mm Standard Mesh grating on the market that meets the BS 4592 35mm Ball Fall test. Our 45mm and 55mm Mini Mesh are also the only products that achieve 20mm ball fall test compliancy whilst catering for wider spans.
  • The d2 Dura Grating products used to cover the voids have rigorously tested anti-slip surfaces and a market leading EN13501 Class B fire rating to increase accessibility and safety.

  • The combination of the lightweight steel framework and efficiently designed GRP panels have an outstanding performance-to-weight ratio.
  • Up to 35% lighter than other GRP grating (50mm versus d2 50mm), d2 Dura Grating puts less stress on the substructure and is safer to transport, install and lift than other products on the market, significantly reducing your project scale.
  • We make our material science knowledge freely available via an online product selector tool, so you can conveniently see how our products perform – based on fact not guesswork. Whatever load and deflection you’re working to, we can show you which product combination will be the most cost-efficient.

  • No need to cut your service holes ahead of time, which saves you valuable time on the project.
  • Choosing Dura products which are up to 35% lighter will help you adhere to guidance on manual handling using less people. Our d2 Dura Grating 38mm weighs just 40kg versus the competitors 60kg, so unlike others is suitable for a 2-man lift.
  • Our supply chain strategy and 3-acre Operations Centre also allows us to maintain a vast stock inventory so we can deliver fast, with all sizes, thicknesses and colours held as stock.
  • If you prefer not to install yourself, we do have a dedicated Riser Installation Team with all the necessary qualifications and experience to make sure your install is speedy, efficient, and hassle-free.

  • d2 Dura Grating is up to 35% lighter than other GRP grating, resulting in a 35% embodied carbon efficiency saving built right into the product.
  • Our in-house services include combined layout drawings, live load testing and FEA, so we can prove something will work before we supply it, and we have all the data and skills you need to specify and build with confidence.
  • We can support you with structural design optimisation and failure analysis for specific projects or applications to help reduce time.
  • Our riser solutions are proven to be safe right from the moment of installation, eliminating the need for the scaffold handrails, netting or timber shuttering that add extra cost to your project.

The Dura Composites Riser Strategy is simple:

1 | Design for all stages of the building lifecycle

Our galvanised steel framework and GRP grating covers offer the perfect combination of strength, safety and adaptability on site. Unlike competitor solutions, there is no need to cut service holes ahead of time or to crane heavy steel framework into position and the system is infinitely adjustable to allow for millimetre by millimetre changes.

All components of the Dura Riser system are also suited to manual handling and can be adapted for use with unusual substrates such as hollow or clay pot. It is ideally suited to modular construction and enables safety requirements to be more easily met and policed. Not only is there a reduced risk of trips, slips and falls – particularly as work at height is reduced – but there is also a reduction in onsite activity.

2 | Reduce the risk wherever possible

Whilst no standard exists specifically for riser void protection, our Dura Riser system is designed to comply with the rigorous standards set out in BS 4592-0:2006 + A1:2012.

Service cut outs can be made “just in time” to minimise the risk for on-site personnel, and our mini mesh gratings complies with the European Ball Falling test requirements.

Dura Riser Grating features our best ever gritted surface which is tested to over 1 million footfalls (in accordance with BS 7976-2:2002+A1:2013) and outperforms all other products in the market when it comes to durability and anti-slip properties.

3 | Keep it simple

Our standard Dura Riser steel framework comprises of four innovative patent pending components that can be used in a wide range of scenarios for risers with a span of up to 3 metres. We offer both a supply-only and a fully installed solution.

Where service penetrations are required, additional supports may be needed, and our experienced team can also create and install bespoke solutions for complex riser voids. No hot works permits are required for cutting service holes on site, thanks to the non-conductive and non-sparking properties of the Dura Riser grating.

4 | Safer at the point of need – for less money

Dura’s Riser solutions are a safer option than corrugated plastic, plywood and netting and prove more cost effective in the long run as they offer much needed flexibility to construction teams.

There’s no need to remove and replace heavy cover plates, and no significant contribution to construction waste. Using Dura Riser 41mm Solid Top grating eliminates the need for additional coverings such a corrugated plastic, netting or plywood, saving even more cost.

Discover the benefits of d2 Dura Grating for your Riser Voids

Our unique d2 Dura Grating is up to 33% lighter than other GRP grating, for easier handling on site. As an example, our 38mm Standard Mesh d2 Dura Grating weighs 13.2kg vs traditional 38mm Standard Mesh grating at 19.5kg. The 6.3kg weight saving means better manual handling and labour saving benefits.

Designed, developed and manufactured by Dura Composites, d2 Dura Grating offers outstanding safety, performance and durability and is more cost-effective than traditional GRP grating in almost every scenario. It has an industry-leading Class Bfl-s1 fire rating as standard (in accordance with BS EN 13501). As with all our grating, it can be supplied with a range of stainless steel clips, clamps and hold down fixings to suit all install scenarios.

A comprehensive range of load testing data is also available within our searchable Online Product Selector database to help you make decisions based on real data to ensure maximum safety for your project.
