Project: Lindau Marina, Germany
Client: Metalu
Lindau, an island town dominated by beauty, situated on the serene eastern side of Lake Constance in Bavaria, bordering Switzerland and Austria, is a place like no other.
The home of Achilles Gasser, the famous German physician and astrologer, this historic town is steeped in history and stunning architecture. Which is why when it came to installing its new marina… Lindau chose Dura Grating Mini Mesh in Sand, with its superior high-strength, lightweight properties that Gasser would have been proud of and that blended beautifully into the Bavarian background.
Working alongside our European partners Metalu, we were able to deliver a marina with a challenging access requirement. The slope from the embankment was no problem for our design specialists and by using Dura Grating with its exceptional anti-slip properties in both wet and dry conditions, it meant that safe access was enabled.
The coat of arms for Lindau is the linden tree, which explains the passion of the local people and the connectedness they feel to nature. Fiercely protective over their wildlife is one of the reasons why Dura Grating was chosen. The Mini Mesh holes provide superior light transmittance that preserves the delicate marine life in the harbour of the Lake.
With its 60-year design life and 25-year warranty, our Dura Grating now stands alongside the famous harbour entrance with the Bavarian Lion, the New Lighthouse and the Schwaben, which is an imposing entrance to Lindau.
The town of great minds, where Nobel Laureate’s meet annually, now has an equally clever marina that the townspeople adore.
Commenting on the project, Dean Fuller, Marine & Leisure Sales Manager at Dura Composites said;
The historic town of Lindau loved their new marina that protected its diverse marine life whilst providing safe access. What a pleasure again to work with Metalu on a historic project in another stunning location.
