    Barn Access Improvement, Devon, UK

    GRP Access Ramp

    Project Overview

In the beautiful village of Bigbury-on-Sea overlooking Burgh Island, an Airbnb and wedding venue required a safe and accessible path up a steep slope. We provided a solution using GRP Grating with anti-slip surfaces, ensuring safe access for all, including wheelchair users.

Improving accessibility with a GRP multi-level ramp structure

Bigbury-on-Sea, close to the iconic Burgh Island plays host to this great venue which is available for hire by large groups. The venue were keen to create a safe and accessible path from the bottom of the slope to the top floor of the converted barn. This presented a challenge to many, given the harsh angle of the slope on which the barn was built on.

In-house CAD drawings for easy installation.

Design support from Dura Composites’ Design and Engineering and Marine and Leisure teams enabled the creation of an accessible path outside the barn for easy access. Our GRP Grating with its clever anti-slip surface is strong and robust and comes with a 25-year warranty and 60-year design life. The small hole sizes in the grating make it suitable for all kinds of footwear and motorised and manual mobility aids.

Could you get a more incredible place than this? I am delighted that we were able to provide safe access with our anti-slip grating for this project, that thousands of lucky tourists can now enjoy.
