Work With an FSC® Certified Company
What is the Forest Stewardship Council®?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is a non-for-profit organisation which promotes responsible management of the world's forests. If a product, such as a decking board, is labeled as "FSC® Certified," it means that the wood used in the product (and the manufacturer that made it) has met the stringent requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council. FSC® is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities, including WWF, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust.
Ethically harvested wood products are a great example of a high-quality product with a lessened environmental impact. Asking for and buying wood products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® is something we can all do that is good for people, good for forests and good for the planet.
Dura Composites and FSC®
Dura Composites was the world’s first composite timber decking and cladding supplier to achieve Forest FSC® Chain of Custody certification in 2011, as part of our commitment to lead the industry in sustainable practice.
FSC® Chain of Custody certification is awarded to companies that can track and document FSC® certified material through the production process, from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of procurement, processing, manufacturing, distribution and sale of certified goods.
The ability to prove that timber has been derived from well-managed sources is now a key factor in the specification of products containing timber for major construction projects. We are proud to maintain our FSC® certification for our Decking and Cladding brands, and not only are our products available as FSC® certified, but they also contain up to 87% recycled material content, meaning they also help to conserve the Earth’s resources whilst reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Next time you have a project involving Decking or Cladding why not speak to us about our environmentally responsible products to ensure you are part of a sustainable supply chain.
