Over a period of years, excessive corrosion had occurred to the existing galvanised steel grating cooling water gully covers. The corroded galvanised steel grating was a potential safety hazard, and the heavy steel covers were difficult to remove without lifting equipment. Dura Composites Ltd secured the contract to supply replacement lightweight low maintenance Dura Grating to all areas. The new covers were easily installed using simple hand tools and tungsten carbide edged saws for cutting and shaping.

In certain circumstances in areas where access for lifting equipment is restricted fibreglass grating is ideal as it can be lifted by just one or two men.

British Standard Slip Resistance Test Results

The B.S. 4592 test was devised to test and assess the slip resistance of industrial type flooring intended for use in water and wet areas. A co-efficient of friction (CoF) is calculated by determining the mean angle of inclination that an operator can safely maintain when the flooring is subjected to a continuous stream of water.
