Dura Composites Shortlisted for Prestigious Rail Industry Award

rail award 1Dura Composites’ innovative composite train station platform known as Dura Platform has been announced as a finalist in the category of Product Innovation at the prestigious UK Rail Industry Awards for 2016.

Dura Platform, which has been described as “ground-breaking” by industry professionals, is a precision engineered product made from Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) which complies with National Rail specifications and offers significant improvements over traditional alternatives – including a dramatic reduction in possession time, plant required on track and sizeable overall project cost savings. Dura Platform is an excellent choice for both new build and refurbishment projects and is fast becoming a viable rival for traditional materials such as concrete, steel and tarmac.

The awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation across the industry were established by the industry print and online magazine Rail Technology Magazine. The awards ceremony will take place on 11th February 2016 at the Battersea Evolution, London and are judged by a pan-industry panel of leading professionals, engineers, researchers, executives, designers and experts.

rail award 2Commenting on Dura Composites’ achievement, Director Stuart Burns said; “With a record-breaking 300 entries this year, making the shortlist is no mean feat. We’re delighted with the response we’ve had to Dura Platform and see it as a real game changer for the industry. With its ability to span up to an industry-leading 3.2m clear span, rapid install time, hidden fixing system and range of anti-slip surfaces – we’re delighted to be delivering a solution that offers so many tangible benefits to station and train operators, Network Rail and passengers. We look forward to the awards in February”.
