Dura Composites Selected for Two Distinguished Awards Programmes
Dura Composites, a leading supplier of composite products for flooring, structures and facades has been selected for two distinguished innovation and export programmes in recognition of its continued growth and achievements.
Having recently won The Queen’s Award for International Trade, which celebrates the best of British business and recognises companies who are making an outstanding contribution to enterprise, Dura Composites has now been selected to take part in the third cohort of the CommonwealthFirst Export Champions programme. The initiative is in partnership with Royal Mail, and was established to encourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to trade and invest across the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth market comprises 52 English speaking countries with a combined population of 2.2 billion and offers great opportunities for British businesses to expand their trade overseas, particularly in the wake of Brexit.
As an Export Champion, Dura Composites will benefit from access to high-level networking events and introductions, training, mentoring and tailored trade missions. Commenting on the programme, Richard Burge, Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, said “I am delighted to see such an exciting array of applicants to become CommonwealthFirst Export Champions. The businesses we have chosen have been selected based on their ambition, innovation and the impact that they will have across Commonwealth markets.”
As well as the CommonwealthFirst programme, Dura Composites has also been selected as one of Essex’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in a joint initiative between Essex County Council’s Essex Innovation Programme (EIP) and Anglia Ruskin University. The list of 50 small and medium sized businesses reads as a “who’s who” of Essex’s brightest, most up-and-coming companies - all of whom will be offered support and advice from EIP and academic expertise from Anglia Ruskin’s Lord Ashcroft International Business School to help them continue to grow.
Speaking about the company’s selection for the Innovation50, Dura Composites’ Managing Director Stuart Burns said; “We are delighted to have been recognised as one of the most innovative businesses in Essex. Innovating to help solve the everyday challenges faced by our customers has always been at the heart of what we do and as part of this programme we hope to be able to bring a range of new and exciting tools and services to market for our new and existing customers – to help them make the best possible choice for their projects.
Dura Composites was established in1996 when the company first began selling fibreglass grating for use as anti-slip walkways in the Marine and Industrial sectors. Over the past 20 years the product range has expanded to include Glass Reinforced Plastic Trench Covers, Profiles, Handrail, Stair Treads and the market-leading Dura Deck and Dura Cladding made from low-maintenance Composite Timber. The company’s mission is to supply pioneering composite product solutions that inspire new ideas and promote safety, durability and longevity - and these new awards programmes build on an extremely successful start to the year.
