New recruits boost Dura workforce

We had our AGM recently at a local hotel – a rare chance for the whole Dura Composites team to get off site, step out of the office environment for a day and see things from a different perspective.

I can’t stress the value of these meetings enough – not just for sharing plans and generating new ideas to drive the business further forward, but also because they allow members of our growing team to gel further and for different departments to bond.

This element of the day was especially important for us this year due to the fact that we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming 21 new team members in the last 12 months.

In that time we’ve more than doubled our size, boosting our current permanent head count to 38 with further temporary staff.

It’s a measure of our continuing success that these new faces have been taken on across all areas of the business, including sales, production, finance, transport and administration, and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their efforts to keep Dura Composites at the forefront of our industry.

One of our latest recruits, Andy Buckingham (pictured), has been taken on as a Key Account Manager with specific focus on the marine sector.

Andy brings with him a wealth of experience in this sector and will be a great point of contact for our clients.

What he doesn’t know about marine is not worth knowing after 12 years with rigging hardware specialist Sta Lok Terminals  and a lifetime of sailing stunning yachts around the world.

He also brings with him valuable experience of international business management via agents & distributors, plus direct senior management experience supplying the construction sector at three height access safety product firms.

We are delighted to have him on board, as we are all our recent recruits.

Assistant Accountant

You’ll be responsible for helping develop the current set up and then maintain new systems that deliver class leading management information alongside the Management Accountant, Book Keeper, and Credit Controller at our Clacton Head Office including:

  • Assist in the delivery of monthly management accounts by day 10 of each month following across 4 companies in group
  • Calculate monthly commission schedules for sales and weekly commissions for warehouse staff
  • Act as Credit Controller 2 days per week
  • Maintain and reconcile the Confidential Invoice Facility that is in place
  • Deliver monthly sales pack by the 20th of each month and assist in the production of Company KPI’s
  • Deputise for Management Accountant on all finance decisions when MA is absent
  • Provide input to other finance team members as and when required to ensure smooth running of department
  • Carry out various accounts functions such as raising Sales Invoices, Nominal Ledger Journals and Stock take schedules

Job Description

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our purchasing and logistics functions using class leading software to ensure the timely arrival of the correct stock and the correct customer orders. It is a essential to form a close working relationship with Accounts, Sales and Production departments.

You will be responsible for the weekly ordering of stock from our overseas suppliers. You will use software to produce a container loading plan for each purchase order to best utilise the space and weight available. The successful applicant to ensure the accurate and timely arrival of correct shipping documentation so that container deliveries arrive on time at the correct destination.

You will be responsible for all other aspects relating to stock and its control including stock adjustments and updating stock takes.

You will work closely with Sales & Finance to ensure all sales orders are despatched in accordance with the sales ordering process, ensuring the correct courier is used for the size and quantity of the delivery.

You will check off the shipping agent and courier invoices ensuring we have the correct costs allocated against the delivery costs on each invoice.

Job Tasks

  • Weekly Stock Shortfall report (SAGE)
  • Raising & maintaining Purchase Orders as required (SAGE)
  • Creating a container loading plan for Suppliers to use when loading out goods (CargoWiz)
  • Booking shipments with Shipping Company (Currently DAMCO)
  • Forwarding DAMCO shipping documentation + Copy of PO & delivery notes for Ryan
  • Update container deliveries on SAGE (Stock PO’s)
  • Liaising and producing paperwork for deliveries for Production Manager.
  • Administration of shipping documentation including Switch Bill of Lading.
  • Controlling the allocation of stock. (SAGE)
  • Adjusting Stock – (extra panels used/ less panels used – SAGE)
  • Updating stock master spreadsheet with costs, shipping rates and duty.
  • Entering stock take figure onto SAGE
  • Raising Sales Delivery Notes and booking daily deliveries with courier (TNT, Steve Prince, Tuffnels)
  • Allocating outward carriage charges to every consignment.
  • Checking carriage invoices for discrepancies.
  • Assisting Ryan with filing completed jobs done
